Netflix film starring Robert Redford, Jane Fonda will shoot in Colorado

Remember when Kevin Bacon shot the movie “Cop Car” east of Fountain a couple of years ago and caused a big stir?

Well, eat your heart out, Bacon, because we’ve got even bigger Hollywood fish to fry.

Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are confirmed to shoot a movie close to Colorado Springs beginning next month. The duo will star in the Netflix film “Our Souls at Night,” an adaptation of the late Colorado author Kent Haruf’s novel about a widow and widower in a small Colorado town who embark on a companionable relationship that turns steamy and sets their community afire with gossip.

Film locations haven’t been locked down, though Colorado film commissioner Donald Zuckerman said producers are looking at Cañon City, Florence and Salida. Filmmakers will use Colorado Springs as their home base of operations. Shooting is scheduled to start around Sept. 12 and last seven to eight weeks.
