On November 11, 2018, six high school students from the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation in Towaoc, Colorado, screened their nine-minute documentary, Ute Mountain Tribal Park: Meditations, Blessings and Prayers, as part of Denver International Film Festival’s Colorado Documentary Shorts Program. Following the program, the students were awarded a Special Jury Award by the Denver Film Academy. The Ute Mountain Tribal Park consists of 125,000 acres of majestic canyon country and desert landscapes dotted with cliff dwellings, artifacts and pictographs. The film explores a new generation of Utes tasked with finding a balance between the challenges of a rapidly changing world and the preservation of cultural identity.
