Award winning filmmaker, Darla Rae, was inspired by her great nephew to make a film about Dandy-Walker Syndrome, a brain defect that causes a multitude of other anomalies including hydrocephalus, spina bifida, deafness, and heart and kidney problems to name a few.
The documentary titled Dandy Kids features children with Dandy-Walker Syndrome and their parents, doctors, nurses, researchers and members of the US Congress who are advocating for both an increase in awareness and funding from the National Institute of Health. Darla Rae credits the parents in her film and members of Congress for standing up in support of sponsoring Congressional Bill 163, Dandy Walker Syndrome.
