1st Annual Film Festival Director Meeting: August 19, 2010

Please join us for a meeting of Colorado’s film festival directors and volunteer leadership hosted by the Colorado Office of Film Television & Media.  The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 19, at the World Trade Center in Denver.

WHO: Directors and leaders of Colorado’s Film Festivals
WHEN: August 19th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: 1625 Broadway (8th Floor conference room), Denver
WHY: Funding, grants and a discussion on how can we help your festival
WHAT: Valuable networking, special film screening, up-date on current projects coming to Colorado, and so much more …..

The meeting is open to directors and volunteer leaders of Colorado’s film festivals.  We will be discussing a variety of topics including applying the Colorado Creates Grants, Small Steps and other programs offered by the Colorado Creative Industries Division , direct sponsorship of festivals by the Film Office, the importance of tracking the economic impact of film festivals for your local community, and a discussion of how we can expand film tourism around your festivals.  We also want to hear from you about what we can do to assist you in better promoting Colorado’s festivals and helping to expand attendance at your festivals.

After the meeting the Denver Film Society will host a screening for all participants at the Starz Film Center featuring a “DocNight” presentation of “They Came to Play” featuring Director Alex Rotaru in-person!
They Came to Play celebrates the joy of classical music with humor and drama. Several talented amateur pianists strive to balance their work, home and musical lives, as they prepare to compete in the International Amateur Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, hosted by the Van Cliburn Foundation in Fort Worth, Texas. Before a distinguished jury and a discerning audience, these inspiring individuals endeavor to perform at near-professional levels in three highly competitive elimination rounds.  Following the screening there will be a Q&A followed by a reception in Gallery 30 at the Starz Film Center in partnership with the Documentary Cinema Institute

We have made arrangements with the Westin Hotel in the Tabor Center (just off the 16th Street Mall) for discounted room rates.  We will be sending you a link to the special room block that we have set up in the near future.
