On February 8, 2016, the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media and LiveWell Colorado announced the first LiveWell Colorado Film Challenge — a new statewide competition for student-produced short films that will award $12,000 in cash prizes to three emerging filmmakers and their Colorado colleges/universities.
Coloradans are known for their active, healthy lifestyles. But did you know that many people face barriers to living a healthy life? LiveWell Colorado works with communities around the state to help make sure all Coloradans have access to healthy, affordable food and opportunities for physical activity. An essential part of that work is lifting up the stories of these Coloradans and the barriers standing in their way. The LiveWell Colorado Film Challenge will give emerging filmmakers a platform for doing what they do best — telling powerful stories — so that more Coloradans can understand and address these issues.
Films 1-3 minutes in length will be accepted February 8-April 24, 2016. Finalists will be notified by May 8, 2016, and honored at a public screening and awards ceremony on May 26, 2016, at Denver’s Sie FilmCenter. The winners will be announced at the event.
